The Catch

“We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” -E.E. Cummings

"The fact is, from our current vantage point we really don't know what anything means or how it will affect us in the future." – from the book, Sacred Success • We're so quick to want to assign things we experience into categories, good or bad, hard or easy, screwed or lucky… • The "bad" things, if you give it enough time, become the best learning tools. The "I'm screwed" moments, if you really use them, often become those moments where you start innovating to find another way. The great things…well, those are simply pretty great. • People ask me how Colombia was. I don't know. It was an experience. I have a very hard time categorizing it because it was a lot of things and how do you label something as one thing and one thing only? You're not one thing, and I don't think experiences are either. • Your vantage point is limited. Remember that the next time you go to ponder "what does this mean??" And see if instead you can return your thinking mind to the present moment. • Sunset clouds somewhere over New Mexico #fitforreallife

I’m starting something new tomorrow; I’m excited, nervous, lots of things really. It’s a positive move, but I find myself searching for “the catch” –  there are always trade-offs, right? Reflecting on my choice not to make a change sooner has me contemplating, was it good? Was it bad? Who’s to say, really. It put me where I am now, and for that, I am grateful. And perhaps – as Kate G says so well up there – I need to allow it to be many things, rather than just one.

Tu | Oh man, those holds are intense; totally got the shakes. And then again during the rest on the last two sets of FS. Was only able to achieve thirty seconds on the holds; then my form started going – hips tilting and the lower back hurting in a pain way. Really wanted more on the barbell for the BS, but 105 was challenging after all the build-up. Worked on keeping my glutes engaged and my legs straighter on the RDLs. Felt stronger so I upped the anti by 5 lbs on the dumbbells. Wider grip on the PP didn’t bother my shoulder – went light intentionally since it’s been testy.

W | Man, thirty minutes on the rower gets you centered. Did the thing where you close your eyes… and feel the movement, the sequence of your body contracting. On repeat. The five rounds were challenging. Bear crawls never cease to amaze me. The legs were spent by the time I got to the stairs, but did in anyway.

Chatted with El Tigre about the globo. Cool to hear he’s feeling it, too.

I was form-checking myself and found this read on “the catch” of the row that I really liked. So there. We’re all about the critical positions here at the globo takeover.

Th | Just rolled through. Went 5# lighter on the DB push presses that what was on record due to angry shoulder. No pain, just proceeding with caution. Barbell EMOM just for fun. Got pretty sweaty. Anticipating lots of car time in the next 48 hours so hopefully the movement will make that a little more bearable.

Su | Making sure I can get some good sleeps tonight. This workout left me pretty spent. Think 75% is higher than 120# these days. Misread part C and made meters minutes.

New gig doesn’t have standing work stations… Something to work on once they love me.
